The Ministry of Transport and Public Works, through the Directorate of Road Traffic and Safety Services, is informing the general public that Malawi will be commemorating African Road Safety Day on Saturday, 21st November, 2020 at Liwonde Community Ground in Machinga District starting from 08:30hrs.
The Commemoration of African Road Safety Day was set aside by the African Union Assembly in 2012 which is celebrated every third Sunday of November. On this day, we remember road traffic victims in African countries, raise awareness on road safety and thereby reduce traffic accident casualties.
Malawi has been commemorating this day since 2013 under different themes and the theme for 2020 is “Stop Roadside Vending, Save Lives.” This is in line with pillar number four of the Global Plan for the Decade of Action on Road Safety (2011-2020) which emphasises on “Safer Road Users”.
The Guest of Honour at the function will be the Minister of Transport and Public Works, Honourable Mohammed Sidik Mia.
The Ministry of Transport and Public Works is therefore, inviting all stakeholders and all road users to this very important function. Your presence and participation at this event will be highly appreciated.
All COVID-19 preventive measures will be adhered to!
Your Safety Is Our Number One Priority, Arrive Alive!!
